Media

How Free is Medias in Malaysia?

We live in a world of information. Everyone in the world especially the media tries their level best to get the information to the people out there in every method possible. However the question lies in the quality of an information. Most of the information we read or listen are always influenced by someone in power.

Before going further, lets see the role of media. Media is a source where information that is given out is true and accurate but the issue now is how far this role is implemented by the medias in Malaysia?
"Information that is given
out is true and accurate"

For instance, right now our country Malaysia is facing one of the anticipated event which is the "13th General Election". The day our Prime Minister announced that the Parliament is dissolved. Everyone got fired up, each TV station, Radio station and Newspaper companies started promoting their source to be the best source of information for the coming elections.

Ironically that is not what we see in Malaysian medias today. What we see is that most of the medias are very much focused on one particular political parties progress which apparently contradicts to the actual role of media. All this brings down to, information given by the medias is no more neutral and reliable. The more powerful political party controls the media. In conclusion, we can say power covers the truth of an information.

End of the day the answer for the question "How free is medias in Malaysia?" still remains vague.
